Planning before you climb Kilimanjaro
Kilimanjaro offers a variety of routes to suit your experience and preferences. Here’s a breakdown of the most popular choices to help you select your perfect Kilimanjaro adventure:
Marangu Route (Coca-Cola Route): Known for its ease of access and comfortable hut accommodation (the only route with huts), Marangu is a good option for first-time climbers or those seeking a less strenuous trek. However, it’s also the most crowded route and offers less scenic variety compared to others.
Machame Route (Whisky Route): This scenic and popular route is considered moderately challenging. Machame offers stunning vistas of diverse ecological zones and utilizes camping for accommodation. It boasts a higher success rate due to its gradual ascent profile, allowing for better acclimatization.
Lemosho Route: Widely regarded as the most scenic route, Lemosho offers a longer and more remote experience with fantastic wildlife viewing opportunities. This route utilizes camping and is known for its excellent acclimatization profile, leading to a higher summit success rate. However, it’s also one of the more expensive options.
Rongai Route: The Rongai Route offers a unique perspective as the only approach from the north face. This route is considered the easiest due to its gentler slopes, but it has less diverse scenery and requires a longer transfer due to its remote location. Accommodation is typically provided in tents.
Conquering Kilimanjaro is a dream for many, but timing is key. To ensure the best possible experience and maximize your chances of summit success, we recommend climbing during the dry season. Here’s a breakdown:
- Peak Climbing Seasons: The dry seasons offer the most favorable conditions for climbing Kilimanjaro, with minimal rain and clear skies. These seasons run from December to mid-March and from mid-June to the end of October.

After climbing Mt Kilimanjaro (7 day machame route) we took two days rest before embarking on the 4 day safari with Angelino Adventures. Together with driver Peter we had a top safari. Two days Serengeti, Ngorongoro Crater and Tarangire National Park. Everything was well organized, on the way there was plenty of drinks along and the lunches were good. Also the sleeping accommodations were nothing to complain about. Our guide driver Peter was very thoughtful and knowledgeable. Thank you @Angelino Adventures for this unforgettable adventure. Jan V2024-03-13Gratefull and fantastic experience, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire National Parks. Together with Guido Heuveling and Remco van der Bijl we were in a happy mood after completing our 7day hike to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro. All we needed was a short rest/recovery in a nice and beautiful lodge and so we did. All good things end, but it would only get better. We were picked up early in the morning by Peter (Angelino Adventures) and headed towards our first goal: Serengeti. Our itinerary was planned in close cooperation by Remco and Angelo weeks before, so we knew exactly what to expect. We passed by the most beautiful sceneries and got the chance to spot four out of the Big Five. We even witnessed the great migration, that really impressed us alot. Spending the nights in wonderful and luxurous camps with good logistics, food and drinks completed the whole. But most of all we appreciated the company of Peter who forfilled many, important roles such as safe driver, guide, coach, photographer, knowledge-bank and last-but-not-least: Rafiki (friend). We were dropped off at Kilimanjaro International Airport in time and had only one conclusion: happy to have booked this safari @ Angelino Adventures!! Asante sana!!! Jan van der Meer

They cooked special meals for me because i have some food allergies during the safari. I definitely recommend angelino adventure, and i will came back soon to visit others parks.

Amazing and breathtaking views, animals that you see on the way cheetahs, lions, zebras, elephants and much more! And everything is just so beautiful, natural and wild. And it included accommodation in the best places available - (our honeymoon trip) The company we closed with was angelino adventures. And they are just great! We planned a trip down to the smallest detail. We did the Serengeti and Tarangiri. The trip itself was private and we spent two days in the Serengeti Reserve. Angelino organized the trip for us in the best way according to our time and budget constraints, answered all our questions and was always available!! We had a perfect guide named Chris, he made sure to take us to the most worthwhile places, took pictures for us non-stop, explained patiently with outstanding knowledge and excellent English! An honest recommendation, you won't regret it!!!
